General Topics

The General Topics (GT) represent the main fields of snow and avalanche research and practice.

Every GT is divided in two sessions:

  • a morning oral session in hall 'Tirol' and
  • an afternoon poster session in the exhibition hall 'Dogana'

In the morning sessions interpretation services to French and Italian besides the main conference languages English and German, are provided.

GT Oral Session

GT oral sessions are part of the morning program. There will be two oral sessions taking place in succession with a duration of 105 minutes each and a 30 minutes coffee break in between. Every GT oral session comprises 5-6 presentations of 12 minutes length followed by up to 3 minutes time for questions and discussion. The session ends with a short session summary and an outlook on the corresponding poster session by the session chair. Professional translation services will be available for all presentations! Therefore presenters are asked to prepare slides (16:9 format) in English and encouraged present in either of the four conference languages.  GT oral sessions neither require pre-registration for attendees nor have an attendee limit.

GT Poster Session

GT posters are displayed throughout the whole week (format portrait A0, max. 150cm*90cm) and will be especially highlighted in the corresponding oral session. Dedicated poster sessions are taking place after the afternoon ST oral sessions and training courses and have a duration of 75 minutes. During the poster sessions, one of the authors will be at their poster site to answer questions. They are carried out in parallel with the poster sessions of the other general and special topics of the day.
